Ain Al-Sukkar is one of the oldest natural springs in the Tabuk region, carrying deep historical and spiritual significance. It is closely associated with the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) expedition to Tabuk in the ninth year after Hijrah, marking it as a sacred site in Islamic history.
According to authentic reports, when the Prophet ﷺ arrived at Tabuk, he found a small spring trickling with water. He washed his face and performed ablution from it, then poured the remaining water back — by Allah’s blessing, the spring overflowed and continued to gush abundantly. From that moment, it became known as “Ain Al-Sukkar.”
The Prophet ﷺ also told his companion Mu’adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him):
“O Mu’adh, if you live long enough, you will see this place filled with gardens.”
Indeed, his words came true — the surrounding land flourished with palm trees and lush greenery, turning the area into one of the most fertile and beautiful oases in Tabuk.
Today, Ain Al-Sukkar stands as a spiritual and historical landmark, drawing visitors who seek reflection, faith, and a glimpse into the living memory of the Prophet’s journey. Its clear water, ancient stone structures, and serene atmosphere make it a remarkable destination for pilgrims and history enthusiasts alike.
