The Kingdom of Dadan and Lihyan is one of the oldest Arab kingdoms, established in Al-Hijr in the northwestern part of Saudi Arabia (present-day AlUla). The kingdom went through several historical stages, beginning as the Kingdom of Dadan before evolving into the Kingdom of Lihyan, which flourished as a major cultural and trading hub.
The first phase of the Lihyanite Kingdom spanned between 2000 BC – 1700 BC, followed by the second phase from 1300 BC – 900 BC to 200 BC. The third phase marked its independence from the Nabataeans, lasting between 107 AD – 150 AD. Throughout these stages, the kingdom played a pivotal role in ancient Arabian history, serving as a vital center for trade and culture along caravan routes.
