The Saudi National Museum

The The Saudi National Museum takes you on a fascinating journey through time — from the dawn of civilization to the modern era — tracing the evolution of human life and the ancient civilizations that once thrived on the Arabian Peninsula. Located in Al-Murabba District next to King Abdulaziz Historical Palace, the museum was inaugurated in 1999 (1419H) and spans over 17,000 square meters, offering an immersive educational and cultural experience.
The museum houses more than 3,700 rare artifacts that narrate the story of Saudi Arabia across different historical eras, from geological formations and prehistoric ages to ancient Arabian kingdoms such as Dilmun, Lihyan, and Najran. The exhibits also highlight the pre-Islamic and Islamic periods, leading up to the unification of the Kingdom under King Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Divided into eight main galleries, the museum’s layout guides visitors through a chronological journey — from the Hall of Man and the Universe, to the Hall of Arabian Kingdoms, the Prophet’s Mission, and the establishment of the Saudi State. Interactive exhibits, documentary films, and detailed models enrich the visitor’s understanding of the region’s rich past.
Other sections include the Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques Gallery, showcasing the spiritual and architectural evolution of the holy sites through centuries.
